Somewhere along the way, clean skincare lost its way. We traded whole, time-tested ingredients for highly processed alternatives, and "natural" became either greenwashed marketing or products that sacrificed stability, safety, and performance in the name of simplicity.

At Flora Fauna, we believe you shouldn't have to choose between the two.

We formulate skincare that combines whole, thoughtfully sourced ingredients with modern cosmetic science-- bringing together ancestral wisdom and professional formulation to create products that are as refined, stable, and effective as they are intentional.

That belief is deeply personal to me. I spent years battling acne, rosacea, and extremely sensitive skin. Ironically, the harder I tried to "fix" it, the worse it became. I cycled through chemical exfoliants, lasers, aesthetic treatments, prescription products, and the occasional apothecary "miracle cream" mixed up in someone's kitchen. But nothing truly worked.

Instead, my skin became increasingly reactive to synthetic AHAs and BHAs, retinoids, chemical sunscreens, and even many of the preservatives found in products marketed as "clean."

That experience changed the way I thought about skincare.

I realized the conversation had become strangely polarized. On one end was conventional skincare—often built around highly processed ingredients and manufacturing efficiency. On the other was the rise of handmade, all-natural skincare that embraced beautiful ingredients but often overlooked the science required to make them stable and consistently safe.

I created Flora Fauna to bridge the gap. Flora Fauna is Latin for "plants and animals," reflecting our belief that nature already provides remarkable ingredients-- we simply believe they deserve the same level of scientific rigor as any modern skincare formula.

Every product is professionally formulated, manufactured in a GMP-certified facility, and developed with stability, safety, and efficacy in mind. We use preservation systems designed specifically for naturally derived formulations, and every production batch is tested for bacteria, yeast, mold, and other microbial contaminants. Because natural skincare should be held to the same standards as conventional skincare-- if not higher.

Our philosophy is simple: use ingredients your skin recognizes, formulate them with intention, and never compromise on quality.

That means you'll never find endocrine disruptors, toxic synthetic ingredients, high-PUFA or hexane-extracted seed oils, or unnecessary fillers in our formulas. Instead, you'll find grass-fed tallow, nutrient-rich botanicals, adaptogens, and bioavailable ingredients selected because they support healthy, resilient skin.

Thoughtful formulation extends beyond what's inside the jar. We prioritize ethically sourced ingredients and packaging that is compostable, renewable, recycled, and/or recyclable. As we continue to grow, our goal is to build Flora Fauna into a regenerative business that gives back to the land, the people we work with, and the communities we serve.

Flora Fauna isn't about rejecting science, nor is it about over-romanticizing nature. It's about bringing the two together.

Because we believe the future of clean skincare isn't choosing between ancestral ingredients and modern cosmetic science-- it's combining the best of both.
